Banger Sisters Back with a Vengeance; Femmes Best Deltas in Last-Minute Upset
Minneapolis, MN – The crowds braved the cold, the snow and the undead to come to the North Star Roller Girls' third bout of season six, Zombie Prom 2012: Take My Brains Away. Fans – including many zombies – were treated to Savage Aural Hotbed's unique brand of rhythm and percussion (including sparks flying off a circular saw) before the bout, and Koo Koo Kanga Roo led a fantastic halftime dance party, but the biggest excitement of the night was the action on the track
The Kilmore Girls – Banger Sisters match-up gave the Bangers the opportunity to shout out loud and clear: guess what? We're back. After Player-of-the-Bout Katarina Hit laid down four points on the opening jam, the Bangers never gave up the lead. Kilmore Girl Hell N Gone brought the Kilmores within three points after only three minutes of play, but Katarina answered with the first of eight double-digit Banger scoring runs...read the full recap here!

NSRG Fan Selected for Zombie Prom Date!
Earlier in the season, fans dropped their names in a specially marked "Go to Zombie Prom with a Roller Girl" box for a chance to be in a photo shoot with a North Star Roller Girl. Kevin, the winning fan, is featured with a North Star Roller Girl in a promotional photo for the Zombie Prom bout January 14. His Mom was horrified, his Dad was proud…Great work Kevin!

Behind the Scenes - North Star Satellites
Ever wonder what a North Star Roller Girls practice session is like? These skaters train several times a week with drills combining strength training, skating skills, derby fundamentals, and pack tactics. Since practice sessions are closed to the public, below are some photos of a recent Satellites session snuck out by a derby insider.
The North Star Satellites provides an opportunity to play roller derby without the commitment or skill level required to play roller derby at the national level. Our goal is to “Provide a place to learn, skate, and have fun” for roller derby skaters of all skill levels.
The North Star Satellites is for female skaters 18+ interested in learning and playing the sport of roller derby. We invite women who are interested in working on their skating and roller derby skills: retired skaters, skaters interested in eventually trying out, skaters interested in becoming referees, and those who want to play derby just for fun. We welcome all skaters at all skill levels. Come in as a beginning skater, an ice or inline skater wanting to try out quad skating, a retiree, or an existing rec skater or referee from another league who wants additional coaching and rink time.
